Low Frequency [LF] Antennas

Passive and Active LF Antennas are available for the following time broadcast signals:

•    MSF 60kHz (UK)
•    DCF77 77.5kHz (Germany)
•    WWVB 60kHz (USA)
•    HBG 75kHz –(Switzerland)

Passive LF Antenna

A Passive LF Antenna is provided as standard with all LF Receiver modules.  The antenna utilises a tuned ferrite rod for reception of the particular LF signal.

Cable lengths of up to 100 metres may be utilised with the Passive LF Antenna. The Antenna is supplied complete with a 0.5 metre cable for system testing purposes.

Active LF Antenna

Certain areas may experience poor radio reception of LF time signals especially with antenna locations involving steel structured buildings.

In such cases, it is recommended that the Active LF Antenna be used which will improve reception and help overcome interference or weak signal strengths. The Active LF Antenna is identical in form and fit to the Passive LF Antenna.

  • Increases signal gain in areas of poor reception
  • May be utilised with up to 300m cable
  • May be used with a choice of time broadcast signals

This Active LF Antenna will increase the gain of the signal by 32dB with a signal to noise ratio improvement of the order of 26dB.

Cable lengths of up to 300 metres may be utilised with the Active LF Antenna compared with only 100 metres for the Passive LF Antenna. The Active LF Antenna is supplied complete with a 0.5 metre cable for system testing purposes.
