 New IEEE 1588 PTP Grandmaster and PTP Slave (Client)
TIME & Frequency Solutions, manufacturers of precision timing systems, have unveiled a new range of instruments utilising the Precise Time Protocol (PTP).
PTP, as described in the IEEE 1588-2008 version 2 standard, enables extremely precise synchronization of networks with an absolute timing accuracy of better than 100 nanoseconds to UTC, using hardware-generated timestamps. This provides significant improvements on the accuracy of network-distributed time over Network Time Protocol (NTP) servers.
The PTP80 IEEE 1588 GrandMaster Clock generates and distributes precisely synchronized time to remote PTP clients and slaves across packet networks. Benefits include:

The IEEE 1588 PTP Slave Network Time Client eliminates the need to install embedded PTP client solutions thereby providing a rapid upgrade for deploying packet-based timing with an immediate cost saving and a quick return on investment.
The IEEE 1588 PTP Slave Network Time Client enables operators to lower operating costs migrating from a TDM to Ethernet backhaul and is equipped with E1/T1, 1PPS and 10MHz ports for synchronising remote network equipment such as UMTS, LTE, WiMAX and PON devices.
